Meet Our Board


The AFIA Board is the primary decision making body for AFIA, comprised of member representatives with a broad range of skills and experience and appointed from across the membership base.

The Board has the ultimate responsibility to AFIA's members for the strategy and performance of the organisation in general, as well as for oversight of the sound and prudent management of the Association. The Board is dedicated to fulfilling these duties in a lawful and professional manner, and with the utmost integrity and objectivity. As such, the Board actively pursues best practice governance processes including continually reinforcing a culture across the organisation of acting lawfully, ethically and responsibly. 

AFIA recognises that members play a key role in corporate governance by electing the Board to govern on their behalf and making other corporate decisions requiring the authorisation of members.

The Board represents our membership diversity from a sector, industry experience, cultural background, demographic, and decision-making styles.

Hugh Lander - Chair

Bank of Queensland Specialist 

Hugh Lander is the Chief Executive Officer of BOQ Specialist at Bank of Queensland. Hugh leads the healthcare and professionals banking business for the BOQ Group. Hugh has more than twenty years of experience in the equipment financing industry and prior to his current role he was the CEO of BOQ Finance. Hugh has been an active member of the Australian Equipment Finance Industry Association including being a past Chairman. Hugh holds a degree in Economics, a Masters of Business Administration, is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Keith Rodwell - Deputy

255 Finance 

Keith Rodwell joined Challenger Ltd in 2012 and together established 255 Finance in 2013. Previously, Keith spent 14 years with GE Capital in Australia and Asia with a predominant interest in equipment finance. Keith was previously a Council member, including one year as Chairman of the Australian Equipment Lessors Association and is currently a Director of AssetSecure Pty Ltd, a leading provider of working capital solutions to mid-market companies. Keith has also held a number of directorships and board observer roles for companies and not-for-profit organisations. Keith has a Master of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics (Econometrics).

Diane Tate

Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA) 

Diane Tate is the CEO at AFIA. She has over 25 years of experience in financial services, stakeholder engagement, industry reform and public policy. Diane has represented the Australian banking and financial services industry in numerous international forums and has advocated for strong governance, balanced regulation and consumer protection and the importance of financial literacy for the wellbeing of individuals, families, communities and economies. Prior to joining AFIA, Diane held various senior executive roles at the Australian Banking Association, including Deputy CEO, where she led the industry through the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry and was the architect of the Banking Reform Program announced in 2016. She has also worked in the Federal Government, AUSTRAC, ASIC and the FINSIA.

James Dwyer

Komatsu Australia Corporate Finance 

James Dwyer was appointed as the Managing Director of Komatsu Australia Corporate Finance Pty Ltd on 1 June 2017. James first joined Komatsu Finance in January 2009 as General Manager, Business Development and served as Chief Credit and Compliance officer and Company Secretary prior to his current appointment. James also has almost twenty years experience in banking and structured asset finance with Commonwealth Bank and National Australia Bank. James has been an active member of AELA since 2010 as well as being a member of the Equipment Finance Council of AFIA since its inception. James has a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting and Finance), was formerly a member of the Australian CPAs, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Cindy Hansen

Qudos Bank 

Cindy is the General Counsel & Company Secretary for Qudos Bank (formerly Qantas Credit Union) and has over 25 years' experience in the finance industry specialising in legal, compliance and governance. Cindy has worked with Qudos Bank for 19 years and previously held senior legal and compliance positions with Australian Guarantee Corporation Limited (AGC) and Permanent Trustee Limited. Prior to commencing in the finance sector, she was a solicitor in private practice. Cindy holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the Queensland University of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (now FINSIA) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Peter Jones

Nissan Financial Services Latitude Financial Services

Peter Jones has over 30 years’ experience within the Australian automotive sector, including across the Toyota and Nissan brands. Peter currently holds the position of Managing Director of Nissan Financial Services Australia & New Zealand. Peter is also the Managing Director of Nissan Australia’s Casting Plant based in Victoria, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Nissan Australia and other associated Nissan companies. He is a graduate of the Australian National University and Monash University (with a masters in practicing accounting). He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Ofir Kranz

Latitude Financial Services

Ofir joined Latitude Financial Services (formerly GE Capital Australia and New Zealand) in September 2003. Ofir has held several Compliance roles with GE Capital and is currently the Head of Compliance and Operational Risk for Latitude Financial Services and has responsibilities for the Compliance, Operational Risk and Enterprise Risk Framework and program across Australia and New Zealand. Ofir has experience in designing and implementing Compliance frameworks, enterprise risk management, managing relationships with regulators and implementing significant regulatory reform. Ofir has a Law degree with Honours and a Commerce degree from Monash University.

Katherine McConnell

Brighte Capital 

Katherine McConnell is the CEO and Chairperson of Brighte Capital. Brighte is one of Australia’s fastest growing FinTech companies. Katherine has 20 years’ experience in finance, previously holding senior positions at Macquarie Bank in equipment and asset finance and early in her career as an economist for the Australian Government Treasury and Department of Finance. Katherine has been recognised by the industry for her leadership, receiving multiple awards including Outstanding Fintech Leader of the Year. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Economics & Management), Bachelor of Arts Degree (Japanese) and a Masters of Applied Finance (Corporate Finance).

Cameron Poolman 

Ondeck Capital Australia

Cameron Poolman is the Chief Executive Officer of OnDeck Australia. Since 2008, OnDeck has originated more than US$8 billion in loans to over 80,000 small businesses across the USA, Canada and Australia. Prior to launching OnDeck in Australia he was the founding CEO of GraysOnline, one of Australia’s largest eCommerce groups. He grew the company to over $500 million in online sales. Before this Cameron worked as an Engineer and Production Manager at Eveready Australia from 1991-1996. Cameron holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from The University of Sydney and a Masters of Business (Marketing) from UTS. 

Ed Stanistreet

Toyota Finance Australia 

Ed is General Manager of one of Australia’s leading fleet management organisations – Toyota Fleet Management (TFM), coming to Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) in 2005 with over 20 years senior executive experience in Chartered Accountancy, Banking & Finance, Fleet Management and Salary Packaging. He is a past chairman of the Australian Fleet Lessors Association (AFLA) and joined the Australian Finance Industry Association Ltd (AFIA) board in 2018. His responsibilities encompass Strategy and Product Development, Sales and Customer retention, Fleet Lifecycle Operations, Credit and Risk Management and more recently Connected Mobility. Ed and his team has been working with members of the Toyota Group (Europe, Asia and Americas) in the development of their fleet management initiatives over the past 3 years.

Phil Waugh

St George/ Westpac

Phil is the National Manager Auto Finance, St George Bank & Bank of Melbourne – this is within the Westpac Banking Corporation Business Banks Specialist Finance Team. Phil leads a National team that provides Retail Consumer Auto Loans, Retail Business Auto Loans and Floorplan Business Lending to Motor Dealers. Phil completed two Masters Degrees including a Masters of Commerce and a Masters of International Business. Phil is also a Trustee of the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust. From 1999 to 2011, Phil was a professional rugby player contracted with NSW Rugby Union and the Australian Rugby Union.

Constitution of the Australian Finance Industry Association Limited

This Constitution is to be construed with reference to the provisions of the Corporations Act (as defined below) and, subject to clause 1.2, terms used in the Constitution will have the same meanings as in that statute.
